You can download a very well working demo at Toontrack site. For this I have tested very many piano synths and the two best to my ears turned out to be our own Truepianos (yes) and Toontracks EZkeys. Still, I have a feeling that to really use TruePiano I'll need to upgrade to a dual-core mac mini or something with more umph that my "old G4 variety. I had recently a project with demanding piano parts. Pretty amazing that I've got MOTU DP5.1 playing TruePiano on this older Mac Mini. I tried that and still had glitches until I finally turned off the "sympathetic resonance" - that did the trick, the piece now plays glitch free. To reduce CPU overhead you can turn off "sympathetic resonance" and "Increased Polyphony" options as well. So Im thinking of buying a PC of suitable performance and sound card, install Truepiano, add some decent speakers. TruePiano Tech Support was very helpful and told me to >definitely turn of the multi-cpu engine option. It appears its cheaper to buy a PC and something like Truepianos than it is to buy a dedicated sound module. Of course, I had the same problems overloading the old Kurz Micro Piano, so it's a good comparison for that reason alone. My Mac Mini is the "Old G4 variety" (Processor 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4, 1 GB DDR SDRAM) and I had trouble getting the piece to play without significant glitches (breaking up). To make a long story short, here's a piece I just wrote, played on my Mac Mini using TruePiano: ![]() These are NKS support files for the 4Front TruePianos VI that I made myself. I should be good.I'm pretty sure they have a demo. Forum rules This forum is for most discussion related to the use and optimization of Digital Performer MacOS and plug-ins as well as tips and techniques. Just checked published system requirements for Notion: 2GB RAM minimum, 4GB RAM recommended. In any case, even if more RAM would resolve it, I'm out of luck for the moment 'cause this old motherboard is maxed out. There must be some programming difference between the way the Piano and other instruments are handled. It is the largest instrument, but not by orders of magnitude, so I think there must be more to it than just size. So it seems to be some issue with the Piano, specifically. But if I add next 10 largest instruments to the score, the RAM footprint doesn't change at all, and they all respond fine. But thanks very much for sharing these tracks with us. The sound is generated in real time, meaning that there's no disk streaming, a low RAM requirement and very speedy load times. With Truepianos youve got a very accurate sound but theres no distance - not reverb, exactly, but that feeling of not having your head right up to the soundboard, as it were. See 20 musician reviews, how 17 pros use it, and where to get a deal on 4Front TruePianos Software. I liked both and am confused which to go for after listening and reading reviews. 4Front TruePianos Software Plugin, Virtual Instrument. After trying out the Pianoteq piano I, like everyone else, was blown away by the playability of it but felt that the tone was a little too thin for my tastes. ![]() While going through the reviews I came across TruePianos (around 70 USD currently) and Addictive Keys (around 90 USD). While we all wait for the perfect sample library (by perfect I mean with respect to playability) I downloaded the TruePianos demo. However, I just checked, and I the smaller instruments do not exhibit this initial delay, so it is apparently a problem with getting all the sounds loaded into RAM. TruePianos uses a combination of proprietary sampling, synthesis and physical modelling techniques while simple controls enable you to match the instrument to your playing style. Hi All, I am planning to purchase a VST and budget is around USD 100. I know this is getting to be considered puny these days, but the entire Notion Piano is only 690MB, and with the Piano loaded in Notion, and this browser running, Windows Resource Monitor still shows 2.5GB available.
